Berliner
Mathematische Gesellschaft (BMG)
Member since 1988. Animated by a seminar, which has been organized by
the BMG, I applied for membership in this society. This seminar took
place in Berlin in 1987, the year of
the 750th anniversary of this capitol.
In the years 1992 - 2007 I have been a member of the advisory board and since approximately 1998 entrusted to provide and maintain the homepage of the BMG. Since April 1st, 2007 I act as the secretary of the BMG.
Deutsche Mathematiker Vereinigung (DMV)
Member since 1990. The determining factor for the membership in this
society has been the desire to be better informed on social processes
and discussions related to mathematics. The journal
DMV-Mitteilungen
provides a good basis for this reason. A scientific completion is given
by the journal Jahresbericht der DMV with overview articles,
book reviews etc.
European Mathematical Society
(EMS)
Member since 1993. Members of the DMV and other national mathematical
societies may join the EMS too. The periodical EMS Newsletter
informs about activities of other professional associations in european
states.
