Der Eingangsbereich des Instituts für Mathematik der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen trägt die zweideutige Bezeichnung "Hilbertraum". In ihm ist die oben wiedergegebene Büste von David Hilbert aufgestellt. Auf einer Messingplakette an der Frontseite des Sockels sind Name sowie Gebuts- und Todesjahr des Mathematikers zu lesen:

An den Wänden der Flure im Erd- und 1. Obergeschoss sind eine Reihe von Postern zu folgenden Persönlichkeiten angebracht: Peter Gustav Lejeune Dirichlet , Carl Friedrich Gauß, David Hilbert, Felix Klein, Hermann Minkowski und Bernhard Riemann (alle im 1. Obergeschoss) sowie Felix Bernstein, Constantin Caratheodory, Richard Courant, Max Deuring, Helmut Hasse, Erich Hecke, Gustav Herglotz, Abraham Gotthelf Kästner, Theodor Kaluza, Martin Kneser, Edmund Landau, Kurt Reidemeister, Franz Rellich, Carl David Tolmé Runge, Hermann Armandus Schwarz, Carl Ludwig Siegel, Moritz Stern, Heinrich Weber, Hermann Weyl.

The entrance lounge of the institute for mathematics of the Georg-August-University of Göttingen is call "Hilbertraum", which means Hilbert room but also Hilbert space. The bust of David Hilbert shown above is placed there. On the brass plaque at the front of its base shows the name and the years of birth and death.
