Betritt man den Curie-Bau in der Weimarer Str. 25, in dem Institute der
Fakultät Mathematik und
Naturwissenschaften der Technische Universität Ilmenau untergebracht sind,
so fallen beidseitig an der Wänden Porträts von vier Mathematikern auf. Diese
Lithografien zeigen auf der linken Seite

Friedrich Gauß sowie weiter hinten
Augustin
Louis Cauchy und auf der rechten Seite
Pafnuti
Lwowitsch Tschebyscheff sowie
Gottfried
Wilhelm Leibniz. Die Porträts besitzen Bildunterschriften die Namen und
Lebensdaten ausweisen - allerdings in kyrillischer Schreibweise (für eine
leichtere Zuordnung sind die Namen in lateinischen Druckbuchstaben ebenfalls angegeben):
Eine Gesamtansicht des Alten Technikums - heute Curiebau genannt - ist nachstehend wiedergegeben.

If one enters the building of the University of Technology Ilmenau named Curiebau one
can recognize portraits of four mathematicians. This building is used by institutes of the
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

characters too, enclosed in parentheses:
