Der Mathematiker, Astronom und Poet
Omar
Khayyam wurde in
Neyshabur1) in Persien geboren, wo er auch verstarb. Seine Grabstätte ist als modernes Denkmal gestaltet.
Obiges Bild zeigt es festlich beleuchtet während einer Jahresfeier, während
das Bild am Ende dieser Seite die Kuppel von innen zeigt.
Die Äußeren Seiten des Monuments weisen einige seiner Gedichte auf
(siehe zum Beispiel Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam).
Von Karl Weierstraß stammt die Aussage: "Ein Mathematiker, der nicht auch etwas Poet ist, wird nie ein vollkommener Mathematiker sein." (vgl. Meschkowski, H.: Mathematiker-Lexikon, 3. überarb. u. erg. Aufl., Bibliogr. Inst., Mannheim usw., 1980) . Dem ist eigentlich hier nichts hinzuzufügen.

Khayyam was born in
Neyshabur1),
where he also died. His burial-place is designed as a modern monument.
The picture above shows it internally illuminated during an annual celebration while the
picture below shows the dome from an inner point of view.
The outer faces of this monument
show some of his poems (cf. e. g. Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam2)).
Once Karl Weierstraß said: "A mathematician who's not also a little bit a poet, will never be a perfect mathematician." (cf. also here)
