Das Grab von Ernst Abbe befindet sich auf dem Nordriedhof in Jena. Vereinzelt findet man auf diesem Friedhof Hinweisschilder, die zu dieser Stätte weisen.

Der Grabstein zeigt neben Ornamentik in Form eines Kelches auch ein Medaillon mit einem Porträt im Profil; die Inschrift darunter lautet:

Oben auf dem Rand des erwähnten Kelches steht das lateinische Wort CREMATVS geschrieben, was soviel wie "verbrannt" beziehungsweise "eingeäschert" bedeutet.

Vor dem monumentalen Grabstein befindet sich noch eine liegende Steinplatte mit der Aufschrift:

die so an E. Abbes Gattin erinnert.

The burial-place of Ernst Abbe is located on the northern cemetery of Jena. Sporadically one can find some signboards for this grave.

The gravestone shows some ornaments in form of a goblet but also a medallion of a portrait. The inscription underneath reads like:

The rim of the goblet shows the Latin word CREMATVS which means "cremated".
