Grave for Sadi Nicolas Léonard Carnot in Ivry-sur-Seine (France)

Der Physiker Sadi Nicolas Léonard Carnot ist in Ivry-sur-Seine (Département Val-de-Marne) verstorben und auch dort auf dem Alten Gemeindefriedhof (Zugang unter anderem von der Straße Rue Jean Le Galleu) bestattet worden. Das Grab besitzt die Grablage: Abteilung 4, Sektion 21. Die Inschrift auf dem Grabstein in französischer Sprache kann wie folgt ins Deutsche übersetzt werden:

S. N. L. Carnot hat auch Arbeiten über Geometrie verfasst (siehe [1]), die jedoch nicht die Bedeutung seines Werks über Thermodynamik erreichten. Sadi Carnot war der älteste Sohn des Mathematikers Lazare Carnot.

The physicist Sadi Nicolas Léonard Carnot died in Ivry-sur-Seine (Département Val-de-Marne) and was also buried there on the ancient communal cemetery (also accessible from the street Rue Jean Le Galleu). The grave is located in section 21 of the 4^th division. The French inscription of the gravestone may be translated to English as follows:

S. N. L. Carnot published also on the topic geometry (cf. [1]). But the results are certainly less important than his work on thermodynamics. Sadi Carnot was the eldest son of the mathematician Lazare Carnot.
