Der Gedenkstein zu Ehren des Oberforstrats Gottlob König steht östlich des Landeskirchenarchivs der Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche in Thüringen, das in der Kreuzkirche an der Straß Schlossberg beheimatet ist. Diese Straße führt als Fußweg von Eisenach zur Wartburg hinauf.

Der Text der Tafel auf dem Gedenkstein lautet:

Dieser Gedenkstein würde hier keine Erwähnung finden, wenn G. König nicht als Forstmathematiker bezeichnet würde - wie auch immer das Tätigkeitsprofil definiert sein mag.

The memorial stone for Gottlob König (1779 - 1849) is located to the East of the archive of the Lutherian Church of Thuringia, which is established in the Kreuzkirche. This church was built near the street Schlossberg which can be used by feet to get from the city of Eisenach to the castle Wartburg on the mountain's top.

The text of the plaque will not be translated because a lot of comcepts appear which may be not be known in English or at least it may be difficult to translate them. The reason why this memorial stone is considered here, is the fact that G. König is called a forest mathematician - however this profession is characterized.
