Monument for Imre Daniel Bogdanich in Budapest (Hungary)

Weit oben auf dem Gellertberg innerhalb der Mauern der Zitadelle, wo durchaus auch andere Attraktionen auf sich aufmerksam machen, befindet sich eine Art Stele und eine Gedenktafel, die auf die Verdienste von Emmerich Daniel Bogdanich (Google Übersetzer) hinweisen. Obiges Bild gibt zur Vermutung Anlass, dass die Steinsäule in früheren Zeiten noch einen Globus oder eine Armillarsphäre trug; derzeit ist nur noch - wie im Bild zu sehen - eine Halterung zu erkennen. Am Ende dieser Seite ist eine Aufnahme zu sehen, die oben auf der Stele eine Armillarsphäre zeigt. Diese Fotografie wurde von Prof. John Fauvel im Jahr 1988 aufgenommen.

Die Fotos wurden überwiegend im März 2007, das Foto am Ende der Seite von Prof. John Fauvel 1988 aufgenommen. Letzteres wurde durch Prof. David Singmaster aus seiner Sammlung bereitgestellt (vergleiche auch A Mathematical Gazetteer). Die lateinische Inschrift wurde in bewährter Weise von Anica Jahning aus Berlin übersetzt. Die Übersetzung des ungarischen Textes auf der Gedenktafel wurde von Mária Madarász aus Neusatz (Novi Sad) durchgeführt.

On the top of mountain Gellert within the walls of the citadel are some attractions. But there is also a column with an inscription and a commemorative plaque pointing out to achievements of Imre Daniel Bogdanich (Google Translator). According to the picture at the top of this page one may assume that there was a kind of globe or armillary sphere on top of the column. But actually only a fragment of mounting support can be seen. At the end of this page a photograph is provided which shows the column with an armillary sphere on its top. This photograph was taken by John Fauvel in 1988 and was provided by Prof. David Singmaster from his collection (confer the abstract A Mathematical Gazetteer).
