Piazza Archimede in Syracuse (Italy, Sicily)

Neben dem sogenannten Grab des Archimedes erinnert in der Altstadt von Syrakus noch die Piazza Archimede an Archimedes, der neben technischen und physikalischen Errungenschaften auch mathematische Ergebnisse erzielte. Das Straßenschild weist auch das Geburts- und das Sterbejahr aus.

Die Piazza Archimede (siehe unten) wird durch den im Jahre 1906 erbauten Diana-Brunnen (Fontana della Diana) dominiert.

Apart from the so-called Tomb of Archimedes there is also the Piazza Archimede in the old part of Syracuse bringing the scientist Archimedes into mind. He made also some contributions to mathematics. The street-sign contains also the years of birth and death.

The Piazza Archimede (see below) is dominated by Diana's fountain (Fontana della Diana), which was built in 1906.
