Schon, wenn man auf der Europatraße 90 sich Crotone nähert, wird man mit einem Hinweisschild - mit obigem vergleichbar - darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass man es mit der Stadt des Pythagoras' zu tun hat. Auch der Text auf dem 2002 eingeweihten Denkmal im Parco Pignero (siehe unten) ist Crotone als Stadt des Pythagoras' ausgewiesen.

Neben dem zentralen Platz, der Piazza Pitagora, und dem eher unauffälligen Denkmal von Alcmeone und Pythagoras findet man in der Stadt noch weitere Hinweise auf den Mathematiker.

Im archäologischen Museum sind eine Reihe von Exponaten nicht explizit datiert, sondern der Zeit des Pythagoras' (il tempo di Pitagora) zugeordnet. Ferner sind dort auf Schrifttafeln die Lebensläufe prominenter Crotonesen (ausschließlich in italienischer Sprache) wiedergegeben: Neben dem Lebenslauf von Pythagoras auch die von erfolgreichen krotonesischen Olympioniken, dem von Democede (Mediziner), von Alcmeone (Mediziner und Philosoph) aber auch von Ippaso (Hippasos von Metapont) einem Mitglied der Pythagoreischen Schule.

Oben auf dem Kastell, nahe seinem mächtigen Turm Torre del comandante ist die weiter unten abgebildete Metalltafel an einem Eisengeländer zu finden. Allerdings ist nicht zu erkennen, auf was diese Tafel Bezug nimmt. Der Text lässt sich wie folgt übersetzen: Symbol der pythagoreischen Sonne Die Sonne war für Pythagoras die Darstellung der Göttlichkeit, die geistige Erkenntnis, die kosmische Intelligenz, so wie das Herz im Menschen der Sitz der Erkenntnisfähigkeit ist. Der Beziehung zwischen der Strahlung der Sonne und der kosmischen Geometrie wird in Griechenland durch den pythagoreischen Symbolismus ausgedrückt. Die Sonnenstrahlen sind traditionell 7 und entsprechen den 6 Dimensionen des Raums und der außerkosmischen Dimension, welche vom Zentrum selbst repräsentiert wird. Das Sonnenprinzip wird dargestellt durch die gelbe Blume und durch Gold, welches als die "Sonne der Metalle" schlechthin definiert wird. In Planung sind ein Themenpark und ein Museum zu Pythagoras (Progetto Pitagora), wozu unter www.urban2crotone.it weitere Informationen in italienischer Sprache zu finden sind.

Just when approaching Crotone you will be informed by a poster like one above that it's the city of Pythagoras. Also on the text of the monument in the Parco Pignero (cf. below on the left) Crotone is named as the city of Pythagoras.

Apart the central place Piazza Pitagora and the monument of Alcmeone und Pythagoras there some more references to this mathematician.

Parco Pignero

The archaeological museum contains exhibits not dated explicitely but associated to the era of Phytagoras (Il tempo di Pitagora). Furthermore biographies of prominent crotonese peoples are presented (exclusively in Italian): Apart Pythagoras also those of Olympic champions, these of Democede (physician), Alcmeone (physician and philosopher) but also Ippaso (Hippasos of Metapont) a member of the Pythagorean school. Above on the castellum close to the huge tower Torre del comandante the metal board shown above can be found fixed at a iron railing. But an object to which it refers to cannot be recognized. The text of the plaque may be translated to English as follows: Symbol of the Pythagrean sun For Pythagoras, the sun was the representation of divinity, the interlectual recognition, the cosmic intelligence, like the human's heart is the place of cognitive faculty. The relation between the sun's radiation and the cosmic geometry is expressed in Greece by the Pythagorean symbolism. The rays of the sun are traditionally 7 and correspond to the 6 dimension of space and and extracosmic dimension, which is represented by the center itself. The principle of the sun is represented by a yellow flower and by gold, which is plainly defined as the "sun of metals".
