Auf dem Wolfgottesacker genannten Friedhof in Basel befindet sich die Grabstätte der Familie Hagenbach, wo auch der Mathematiker und Physiker Eduard Hagenbach-Bischoff bestattet ist. Am Eingang zum Friedhof findet man eine Übersicht von Gräbern berühmter Basler, in der auch dieses Grab verzeichnet ist und so leicht aufgefunden werden kann. Das Grab befindet sich in Sektion 38.

Auf Eduard Hagenbach-Bischoff geht ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Sitzverteilung nach Wahlen zurück, das mit dem d'Hondtschen Verfahren identische Ergebnisse liefert. Die Festschrift zur Einweihung des Bernoullianums wurde von E. Hagenbach-Bischoff im Jahr 1874 zusammen mit J. Piccard herausgegeben.

The grave of the mathematician and physicist Eduard Hagenbach-Bischoff is located on the cemetery called Wolfgottesacker. At the entrance an overview of the burial places of prominent persons is provided. It contains also the grave of Eduard Hagenbach-Bischoff which can easily be found due to this information in section 38. For the contents of the grave-stone see above in the German text.

Eduard Hagenbach-Bischoff developed a method for allocating seats in party-list proportional representation which may yields the same results as this of d'Hondt. In 1874 E. Hagenbach-Bischoff published the commemorative volume in occasion of the inauguration of the Bernoullianum together with J. Piccard.
