Das Denkmal ist dem Mathematiker, Geodäten und Astronomen
Carl Friedrich Gauß gewidmet. Es steht in dessen Geburtsstadt Braunschweig unmittelbar
am Fuße des sogenannten Gaußbergs, wo Inselwall, Schubertstraße und
Bammelsburger Straße zusammenlaufen.
Die Beschriftung auf dem Sockel weist auf der Vorderseite den Namen und die Lebensdaten aus. Auf der Rückseite ist folgender Text zu lesen, wobei Zeilenumbruch, durchgängige Schreibung in Großbuchstaben und die Variation der Schriftgrößen beibehalten sind:

Die Aufnahme entstand im November 2003.
The monument is dedicated to the mathematician, geodesist and astronomer
Carl Friedrich Gauß. It is placed in his place of birth Brunswick near the so-called
Gaußberg at the junction of the roads Inselwall, Schubertstraße and
Bammelsburger Straße.
While the inscription of the pedestal's front side shows the name and the dates of birth and death of C. F. Gauß, the back provides the following text. The translation essentially preserves the structure of the sentence.
