Nahe dem Vigeland-Park in der Straße Nobel gate 32 ist das Vigeland-Museum (Vigeland museet) beheimatet. Dort sind im Wesentlichen Modelle und Studien zu den Skulpturen des Bildhauers Gustav Vigeland ausgestellt. Darunter befinden sich auch Exponate zum Denkmal für Niels Henrik Abel vor dem königlichen Schloss in Oslo. Da ist zum einen oben abgebildete Büste ausgestellt, das den Begleittext

besitzt. Ferner ist das rechts gezeigte Modell der vollständige Figurengruppe im Raum V mit dem kurzen Begleittext

ausgestellt. Die Räume IV und V werden wie im englischsprachigen Abschnitt wiedergegeben beschrieben. Dieser Text lautet wie folgt in einer Übersetzung ins Deutsche:

Die Räume IV und V sind einigen berühmten Porträtbüsten Vigelands gewidmet sowie den wohlbekannten Denkmälern zu Niels Henrik Abel, Henrik Wergeland, Camilla Collett und Rikard Nordraak.

Niels Henrik Abel, 1902   Entwurf in Gips. 1902 wurde zu einem Wettbewerb für eine Statue für den Mathematiker Niels Henrik Abel (1802 - 29) aufgerufen. Der Bildhauer Ingebrigt Vik gewann diesen mit einer sitzenden klassischen Figur, aber das Komitee gab den endgültigen Zuschlag diesem Entwurf von Vigeland. Es ist eine dramatische, symbolische Interpretation des Genius durch den Raum emporstrebend, getragen durch zwei unbekleidete Figuren. Dies ist keine gewöhnliche Statue, eher ein Tribut an den Genius selbst. Mit diesem Werk gelang Vigeland der endgültige Durchbruch als prominentester Bildhauer in Norwegen. Das Denkmal wurde im Schlosspark Oslos 1908 aufgestellt. Die Figurengruppe von vier Metern Höhe ist in Bronze gestaltet und in acht Metern Höhe auf einem Granitsockel gestellt.

The Vigeland Museum (Vigeland museet) is located near the Vigeland Park in the street called Nobel gate Nr. 32. It mainly hosts models and studies / sketches associated to sculptures of G. Vigeland. Busts and personal monuments

Room IV and V are devoted to some of Vigeland's famous portrait busts and well known monuments of Niels Henrik Abel, Henrik Wergeland, Camilla Collett, and Rikard Noordraak.

Niels Henrik Abel, 1902   Sketch in plaster. In 1902 there was announced a competition for a statue for the mathematical genius Niels Henrik Abel (1802 - 29). The sculptor Ingebrigt Vik won with a sitting classicistic figure, but the committee preferred in the end this sketch by Vigeland. It is a dramatic, symbolic interpretation of the genius soaring through space, borne by two naked figures. This is no ordinary statue, but rather a tribute to genius itself. With this work Vigeland had his final breakthrough as the most prominent sculptor in Norway. The monument was placed in the Palace Park in Oslo 1908. Its full-scale figures of 4 metres were cast in bronze and placed on a 8 metres high granite pedestral.
