In der Brüderstraße 10 dem Gebäude, das auch das
Museum Galgenhaus
beherbergt, wird mit einer Gedenktafel dem Propst zu Kölln
Johann Peter
Süßmilch gedacht. Nebenan befindet sich die
Vertretung
des Freistaates Sachsen beim Bund.
Der Text der Gedenktafel lautet:
Zwar wird J. P. Süßmilch hier als Wegbereiter der Statistik genannt, was die mathematischen Belange angeht, so bediente er sich der Mitarbeit seines Akademie-Kollegen Leonhard Euler (vergleiche [1]).
Eine weitere Gedenktafel an der Straßenkreuzung Berliner Straße / Teltower Damm in Berlin-Zehlendorf ehrt ebenfalls J. P. Süßmilch und weist im Wesentlichen den gleichen Text wie diese Tafel aus.
Die Fotos wurden im Oktober 2007 aufgenommen.
Aktuell - das heißt mit Stand 20. März 2016 - kann die Gedenktafel am Haus der Brüderstraße nicht mehr vorgefunden werden.
The building with the address Brüderstraße 10 in Berlin-Mitte not only hosts the
museum Galgenhaus, it also
possesses a commemorative plaque at its frontside, which is shown at the top of this page.
It is dedicated to
Johann Peter
Süßmilch.
The text of this plaque may be translated to English as follows:
| In this building, popularly called »Gallows house«, there lived and died Johann Peter Süßmilch 9/3/1707 – 3/22/1767 universal scientist and provost of Kölln at the river Spree Due to his main work from 1741 »Die göttliche Ordnung« (The divine order) he became pioneer for population science and statistics |
J. P. Süßmilch is mentioned being pioneer for statistics, but for mathematical concerns, he asked for the help of Leonhard Euler one of his colleagues of the academy (confer [1]).
There is an almost identical plaque at the junction Berliner Straße / Teltower Damm in Berlin-Zehlendorf which also commemorates to J. P. Süßmilch.
The photographs were taken in October 2007.
Actually, which means on March 20th, 2016, the commemorative plaque is not longer placed at the house with address Brüderstraße 10.
