Plaque for J. und K. Kepler

Birthplace of K. GuldenmannWortlaut:

Geburtshaus
der
Mutter des Astronomen Kepler:
Katharina Guldenmann
geb[oren] 8.11.1547

english The house where Katharina Kepler, née Guldenmann, the mother of the mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler was born is possesses the address Schminckestraße 54 in Eltingen. Nowadays Eltingen is part of the city of Leonberg. There is a bronze plaque above the ground-floor showing a German text which reads like:Geburtshaus von K. Guldenmann /
Birthplace of K. Guldenmann

Birthplace
of the
of
mother of the astronomer Kepler:
Katharina Guldenmann
born on 11/8/1547

Over this plaque ther is a sun dial installed (cf. the total view above on the left). Furthermore about 120 m to the East at the junction with the street called Hindenburgstraße there is a well decorated with a statue presenting Katharina, J. Keplers mother (see the picture on the right). One may not imagine that Katharina Kepler would attract so much attention if her son Johannes wouldn't become such a renowned personage. It is worth to mention that a witch trial was instituted against her (see [1, S. 71 - 114]).

The photographs were taken in July 2008. Photographs of the birthplace and the statue can also be found in [1].
