Die Büste von
Adam Ries
und die Gedenktafel darunter (siehe links) sind am sogenannten Haus "zum schwarzen Horn"
(heute Michaelisstraße 48) in Erfurt angebracht,
das wie auf der oben wiedergegebenen Tafel zu lesen ist, die Druckerei beherbergte,
in der Adam Ries' erstes Buch gedruckt wurde.
Was mit dem Titel "Rechnen auff der Linihen" gemeint ist, kann auf
der zwischen den Pflastersteinen vor dem Haus eingelassenen Tafel (siehe unten)
nachvollzogen werden. Auf ihr ist die Struktur eines Rechenbretts zu erkennen,
die Lage der Steine repräsentiert die Zahl 1992.
Ganz unten auf dieser Seite gewinnt man einen Gesamteindruck des Ensembles.
Büste und beide Tafeln sind gut zu erkennen.

The bust of
Adam Ries together with the plaque are placed at the front of so house called "Zum schwarzen Horn"
("to the black horn" nowadays Michaelisstraße 48) in the city of
Erfurt. The following translation of the contents
of the table above will show the reason.

The contents of the plaque below the bust can be translated as follows:
Was is meant with the title of the book of A. Ries "Rechnen auff den Linihen" (calculating on lines) can be expected when looking on the table shown below. It is placed on the ground and contains the structure of an arithmetic table. The arrangement of the chips represents the number 1992 where the 500th anniversary of Adam Ries occured. At the end of this page a picture of the front of the house "Zum schwarzen Horn" is shown which gives an impression of the items described.
