Commemorative plaque for Farkas and János Bolyai in Szeged (Hungary)

Drei Seiten den Domplatzes (Dóm tér) in der südungarischen Stadt Szeged nimmt das Pantheon ein - ein Säulengang, der mit verschiedensten Reliefs, Büsten und Gedenktafeln ausgestattet ist. Unter anderem (vgl. Gedenktafel zu F. Riesz und A. Haar und Gedenktafel zu L. Redei und anderen sowie Gedenktafel zu J. Vitez) ist die oben abgebildete Gedenktafel dort zu finden. Sie enthält in der oberen Hälfte ein Porträt in Reliefform, darunter den Namen "Bolyai-Bolyai Farkas" sowie Geburts- und Sterbejahr, 1775 und 1856, und in der unteren Hälfte ein Familienwappen, ein Spruchband, dem Namen "Bolyai-Bolyai János" sowie Geburts- und Sterbejahr, 1802 und 1860. Das Spruchband enthält den Text (aus dem Ungarischen übersetzt):

Der Text wurde von Mária Madarász aus Neusatz (Novi Sad) vom Ungarischen in die deutsche Sprache übersetzt. Die Aufnahme am Ende der Seite zeigt den Dom von Szeged, das Pantheon rahmt die drei übrigen seiten des Domplatzes ein. Die Fotos wurden im März 2007 aufgenommen.

The pantheon in Szeged takes up three faces of the Dóm tér (cathedral place). It is built as a colonnade containing reliefs, busts and commemorative plaques. Among a lot of others (cf. Plaque honouring F. Riesz and A. Haar and plaque of L. Redei and others as well as plaque related to J. Vitez) the plaque shown above can also be found there. The upper part contains a portrait in form of a relief, the name "Bolyai-Bolyai Farkas" and the years of birth and death 1775 and 1856. The lower part of the plaque shows a heraldic figure, a banner as well as the name "Bolyai-Bolyai János" and the years of birth and death 1802 und 1860. The translation of the text from Hungarian to German has been performed by Mária Madarász from Novi Sad. The photograph below shows the cathedral of Szeged viewed from the pantheon. The photographs were taken in March 2007.
